Santo Domingo,.- Agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and members of the Public Ministry, supported by the Los Pilones Task Force, seized 13 packages presumably of marijuana, during a joint inspection and interdiction operation carried out in the municipality of Baní, Peravia province.
Agents and military personnel, as part of the expansion of operational tasks, detained the driver of a vehicle on the
Francisco del Rosario Sánchez highway, at the Los Pilones checkpoint, where a gas tank was seized in the trunk, containing inside several bales of a vegetable, presumably marijuana, said the
DNCD in a note.
By order of the prosecutor, the cylinder was opened, finding inside a total of 13 packages, wrapped in black plastic bags, weighing approximately 16 pounds.
During the intervention, a 23-year-old man was arrested, who will be placed at the disposal of the Justice in the coming hours, to determine possible coercive measures for violation of law 50-88, on drugs and controlled substances.
In the operation, a car, a cell phone, personal documents, and other evidence were seized.
The
Public Ministry and the
DNCD are deepening investigations in relation to the case, while the bales of the alleged marijuana were sent to the
National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding purposes.
