Abinader orders investigation into vehicle purchases during his administration

Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader informed this Monday that he instructed the Administrative Ministry of the Presidency to investigate the vehicle purchases made by his administration, after a report indicated that, despite the austerity measures, the Government has continued to acquire SUVs. The leader addressed the issue during his weekly meeting with the press, after being questioned about the increase in spending on vehicles during his first three years in office.

“I saw that report this morning and sent it to be investigated with the Administrative Minister to get an answer,” he affirmed. Abinader clarified that part of the acquisitions indicated by the media correspond to buses for the National Student Transportation System (TRAE), vehicles for the National Police and ambulances for 9-1-1. “We have handled the purchase of vehicles with considerable rigor, but without affecting the public services that require these units,” he pointed out. The Head of State indicated that the report requested from the Administrative Ministry will detail the destination of the vehicles mentioned in the publication.
