Santo Domingo. – President Luis Abinader spoke this Monday about the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities at the National Health Insurance (Senasa), clarifying that it was the Dominican Government itself that requested the intervention of the Public Ministry.
“I want to say the following: it was the Dominican Government that deposited, with our authorization, in November 2024, for the Public Ministry to investigate. The investigation that is happening now, before any report, was our initiative,” declared the president during his weekly meeting with the press.
Abinader emphasized that the investigation is not only in charge of the Public Ministry, but also involves several control and oversight institutions.
“Apart from the Public Ministry, the Accounts Chamber has been conducting an audit for months; the Anti-Fraud Prosecutor’s Office as well; and the Comptroller’s Office, all working on the investigation of Senasa,” he explained.
