An American citizen dies in the Haina Vacation Center

Santo Domingo.- An American citizen died while in custody at the Haina Detention Center, the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported this Tuesday, which indicated that, according to initial evaluations, the body shows no signs of violence. In its statement, the DGM specified that the woman, who was in Haina for immigration investigation and deportation proceedings, presented “apparent psychotic disorders” and was arrested without documentation at the end of April in the east of the country by the Tourist Police. As her identity and nationality were unknown, she was referred to Immigration for identification, for which the institution contacted different embassies.

It was last Wednesday when she could be officially identified through facial recognition technological tools, which was reported to the United States embassy in the Dominican Republic. According to the note, on Monday morning the woman was found without vital signs, and according to initial evaluations, the body showed no signs of violence. The body was taken to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) to determine the cause of death by autopsy.
