Ángelo Vásquez stated that the mobilization seeks to demand greater immigration controls
Moca, Espaillat.– The Antigua Orden movement held a march this Sunday in the municipality of Moca against what it calls the “Haitianization” of the Dominican Republic, led by its leader Ángelo Vásquez.
With slogans “Go to Haiti” and “If they don’t leave, we’ll kick them out,” hundreds of Dominicans gathered with the purpose of expressing their rejection of the presence of Haitian citizens in the area and demanding more forceful actions from the authorities regarding irregular migration.
“We have come here to carry out a march against the Haitianization that Moca is experiencing,” stated the leader, who used an energetic speech to demand the departure of Haitian citizens from the national territory.

Vásquez explained that Moca was chosen as the setting for the demonstration due to violent events in which, as he claimed, Dominicans had lost their lives at the hands of Haitian citizens. Among these, he mentioned the recent case of a farmer murdered in the area.
The representative of Antigua Orden also justified the selection of Duarte Park as the gathering point, attributing to it a historical and symbolic significance related to the struggles for Dominican sovereignty.

Likewise, Vásquez accused different political sectors of having allowed an increase in Haitian immigration over the last decades and assured that the organization will continue to promote mobilizations in defense of what it considers national sovereignty.
