The undocumented individuals were attempting to evade military surveillance at different points in the border province. A Dominican citizen was detained in one of the operations.
Montecristi, D.R. – A total of 54 Haitians in an irregular migratory status were detained by members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) during several migratory interdiction operations in different communities of the Montecristi province.
The first intervention took place at the Hatillo Palma military checkpoint, where ERD soldiers detained 20 undocumented foreigners, consisting of 15 men, four women, and one minor.
According to the military report, the group was attempting to evade security checkpoints by traveling along the berm of the La Reforma canal, on an alternate route toward the community of Hatillo Palma.
In a second operation, carried out in the community of Cayucal, Guayubín municipality, a patrol assigned to the Mangá detachment intercepted another 20 Haitian nationals in an irregular situation.
Among those detained are 12 men, six women, and two minors, who were located in a wooded area near the Guayubín River.

Likewise, during an operation carried out by a motorized patrol of the 10th Infantry Battalion, 14 undocumented foreigners were detained in the vicinity of the Maguaca dam. The group was composed of nine men and five women.

In the same operation, a Dominican citizen identified as Juan Francisco Jiménez Ramón was arrested, while three motorcycles used for the transport of the foreigners were seized by the authorities.

The detainees were transferred to the respective military facilities for the corresponding procedures and subsequently handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM), in accordance with the provisions of current legislation.
