Santiago Rodríguez.– Members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) intercepted a vehicle that was being used to transport seven Haitian citizens in an irregular migratory status during an operation carried out in the Santiago Rodríguez province.
According to the military report, the soldiers detected a Hyundai brand SUV, Santa Fe model, silver in color, while it was traveling along the Mao-Santiago Rodríguez highway, near the entrance to the Tarana section.
Upon noticing the presence of the authorities, the driver fled, which initiated a pursuit by military personnel. However, upon finding himself cornered, he abandoned the vehicle and escaped the scene, so the authorities are continuing investigations to determine his whereabouts.

During the inspection carried out on the vehicle, the military found seven Haitian nationals inside with irregular migratory status, consisting of five men and two women, who were detained for the corresponding procedures.
The foreigners and the occupied vehicle were transferred to the Army fortress in Santiago Rodríguez, where the necessary procedures were carried out before their handover to the competent authorities for the established legal purposes.
