Boca Chica. – The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, reaffirmed this Tuesday his commitment to the comprehensive recovery of Boca Chica, assuring that he will not abandon his duties at the head of the Ministry of Tourism until he sees the transformation process of this iconic tourist destination concluded.
During the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Andrés Boardwalk, Collado highlighted that the intervention is part of a strategic plan that seeks to restore splendor to Boca Chica through infrastructure works, economic development, and beach regeneration.
“I dream of inaugurating this project before I finish my term as Minister of Tourism,” the official expressed when referring to the initiatives being carried out in the area.
Collado recalled that for years he received questions about when the intervention of Boca Chica would arrive, just as it happened during his time as mayor of the National District with other emblematic projects.
“When I started as Minister of Tourism, we recovered different boardwalks and the question was: ‘And what about Boca Chica?’ Today I can answer that question and tell you that Boca Chica is for now,” he stated.
The minister reported that the Government, through the Ministry of Tourism, plans an investment of over RD$2 billion to transform the municipality, including the construction of the Andrés Boardwalk, the remodeling of parks, the intervention of the local church, a new plaza for vendors, the paving of streets, and the regeneration of the beach.
Likewise, he highlighted that the project has been conceived in a comprehensive manner to impact both tourism development and the quality of life of the residents and merchants in the area.

“Boca Chica will be a well-thought-out intervention. We are not improvising,” he stated.
Collado also highlighted that the works are being executed under strict processes of transparency and supervision, with the participation of universities, religious representatives, and organizations linked to the tourism sector.
The minister defined Boca Chica as a hardworking and entrepreneurial community, and assured that its recovery represents a priority for the administration he leads.
