Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) reported this Tuesday that it is advancing in the preparations for the restoration of services at the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Caracas, Venezuela, with the aim of facilitating assistance to Dominicans residing in that country.
Through a statement dated this September 29, the Foreign Ministry indicated that the official date for the reopening will be announced later through its official channels.

Once the Consulate General is operational again, all consular services will be available and new procedures can be carried out directly within Venezuelan territory.
The MIREX clarified, however, that individuals who have initiated procedures, submitted documents, or have scheduled appointments in Colombia must complete those processes in Bogotá, as they will not be transferred to the consular office in Caracas.

The institution explained that the restoration of operations seeks to prevent Dominicans residing in Venezuela from having to travel to other countries to manage consular services.
Likewise, the measure will benefit foreigners who require assistance from the Dominican consulate, who will be able to carry out their new procedures directly from Venezuela.
“With these actions, MIREX seeks to ensure that Dominicans residing in Venezuela and foreigners who require consular assistance once again have these services available directly in that country, reducing travel and facilitating their access,” the statement notes.
The Foreign Ministry did not specify at the moment the date on which consular operations will formally begin in Caracas.
