Foreign woman found dead in Vacacional de Haina would have been raped

Santo Domingo.- The National Council of Human Rights (CONADEHU) denounced this Monday the death of a Ukrainian citizen in the custody of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM), in an event that occurred in the Detention Center located in Haina, San Cristóbal.

Nelson Gutiérrez, executive director of CONADEHU, identified the deceased only as “Mico”, and assured that her death would have occurred on Sunday night, after being locked up for more than 15 days without a competent judicial order and, according to the complaint, in inhumane conditions.

“We, as the National Council for Human Rights, the simple fact of a violation allows us to immediately enter the case”, he expressed to De Último Minuto, highlighting that it gives The human rights leader stated that the woman was a victim of sexual assault during her confinement, which worsened her physical and emotional state. According to reports, the victim had left a letter detailing the abuse she suffered.

“I assure you 100% that the letters exist. I also assure you that she was raped 100% and that INACIF will have to certify and say it,” he stated.
