Santo Domingo.– The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) and other state security institutions detained 2,168 undocumented Haitians in a series of operations, while deporting another 1,344 citizens of that nationality, the institution reported this Friday in a note.
The deportees were handed over to the authorities of that country at the border points of Dajabón, Elías Piña, Jimaní and Pedernales.

The repatriation was carried out after the arrested were processed, biometric data and fingerprints were taken, in the Migration centers destined for those purposes.
Operations are carried out prioritizing dignified treatment towards immigrants and complying with national and international regulations that guarantee respect for their prerogatives, the institution affirmed.

“The combined work is manifested in the effectiveness of an orderly migration policy, designed to guarantee the safety of the population, preserve national identity and strengthen the sovereignty of the State,” Migration highlighted.
The implemented migration management also helps prevent the proliferation of illicit activities, fosters social cohesion, and generates a safer environment for all inhabitants, also promoting a favorable climate for investment and the country’s economic development.
