Guatemala City. – The
Council of National Human Rights Institutions of Central America and the Dominican Republic (CINDH) recognized the Ombudsman of the Dominican Republic for his high commitment to the promotion and defense of the fundamental rights of citizens.
The head of the constitutional body,
Pablo Ulloa, received the award from the Human Rights procurator of Guatemala and pro tempore president of the IACHR,
Alejandro Córdova, during the
Third Ordinary Meeting of the organization, held in Guatemala.

The distinction was awarded in recognition of various educational, environmental, and community initiatives promoted by the Dominican institution, among which the
Animated Constitution project stands out, the environmental campaign
“A clean, healthy and sustainable environment”, developed jointly by the member countries of the council, and the citizen meetings

During his intervention, Ulloa thanked for the recognition and highlighted the Ombudsman’s commitment to the defense of fundamental rights, the strengthening of environmental awareness, and the promotion of civic values.
“Our mission is to guarantee fundamental rights, as well as to promote initiatives that contribute to educating, raising awareness about our natural resources, and strengthening ties with the citizenry,” he expressed.
Within the framework of the meeting, the progress of the joint work between the entities of the region was also presented, the strategies for the protection of people in situations of human mobility, early warnings, and the official launch of the regional campaign “A Clean, Healthy and Sustainable Environment”, among other topics of common interest.
