Passengers will be able to travel directly to Los Alcarrizos with the full operation of Line 2C

Santo Domingo.Line 2C of the Santo Domingo Metro, located in the municipality of Los Alcarrizos, began full operation this Monday after successfully passing the technical and operational tests carried out during the trial period, reported the Metropolitan Transport Company (EMT).

Through an informative note published on its social media, the entity explained that the full implementation of Line 2C will allow passengers to travel continuously, without the need to change trains at the María Montez station, located at kilometer 9 of the Duarte highway.

Until now, users had to make a transfer at that station to continue towards Los Alcarrizos. With the full operation underway, the journey can be made directly, facilitating the mobility of passengers from that area to the rest of the system.

Free service concludes

The EMT also reported that the free service enabled during the testing phase will conclude next Sunday, August 16. Starting the following day, users must pay the regular fare established for the system.

The institution explained that the progressive incorporation of new railway units is part of the actions aimed at strengthening the Metro’s operational capacity and guaranteeing a service in line with passenger demand.

Likewise, he specified that the entry into operation of Line 2C occurs after the satisfactory completion of the tests and validations carried out during the so-called trial run.

The EMT indicated that with this new stage it seeks to continue advancing in the strengthening and modernization of the public transport system, with the purpose of offering more connected, efficient, safe and reliable mobility to citizens.

The full commissioning of Line 2C represents a new step in the expansion of the mass transit network towards Los Alcarrizos and in the improvement of connectivity between this municipality and other points of Greater Santo Domingo.
