SANTO DOMINGO. The Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) ratified that the election of its main authorities will be held through a National Convention of Delegates scheduled for next August 2nd, in compliance with the political organization’s internal statutes.
n” “nThe decision was adopted by the governing bodies of the ruling party, which defined this mechanism as the way to renew the organization’s leadership structure, in view of the upcoming political and electoral challenges.
n” “nThe president of the PRM, José Ignacio Paliza, has pointed out that the renewal of party authorities must take place within the deadlines established by the Law on Parties and internal statutes, ruling out the possibility of extending current terms.
The delegate convention modality has been used previously by the organization for the selection of its governing bodies and is contemplated in the party’s internal regulations. Under this scheme, accredited delegates represent the different territorial and sectoral structures of the PRM in the voting process.
The day of August 2nd will define the composition of the party leadership for the next term, in a context where various leaders have shown interest in assuming positions within the organizational structure of the country’s main political force.
