Santo Domingo.– The mayor of Santo Domingo Oeste, Francisco Peña, expressed his satisfaction this Sunday with the inauguration of the Plaza de la Bandera tunnel, assuring that the project will contribute to reducing traffic congestion and will favor the economic development of the municipality.

Upon his arrival at the inaugural event, the mayor thanked President Luis Abinader for the execution of the infrastructure, which, as he stated, will have a positive impact on mobility and the generation of opportunities for residents.

We feel satisfied and happy. We thank God and President Luis Abinader for carrying out this project, which will generate a lot of wealth and many jobs in our municipality,” he stated.

Peña indicated that the tunnel will also allow for the reduction of the prolonged traffic congestion that for years affected those traveling through the Plaza de la Bandera.

It will bring us peace of mind regarding the huge traffic jams that used to form and that desperation one suffered when crossing the Plaza de la Bandera,” he expressed.

When asked if he had had to face those traffic jams, the mayor replied with a laugh: “Of course, always,” highlighting that he knows firsthand the mobility difficulties that citizens faced in that area.
