Senate honors 25 outstanding figures in national life

Santo Domingo.– The Senate of the Republic recognized this Wednesday 25 personalities for their valuable contributions in different areas of national life, including music, medicine, literature and the media. Among those honored are the iconic singers Manuel Alfonso Vásquez Familia (Pochy Familia) and Erasmo Alfonso Cáfero (Niní Cáfero), as well as the outstanding doctor and philanthropist Félix Antonio Cruz Jiminián, for his social work and his commitment to the health of the most vulnerable.

The Upper Chamber also recognized Grupo de Medios Telemicro, headed by Juan Ramón Gómez Díaz, for its trajectory and contribution to the development of communication and entertainment in the Dominican Republic. During the event, a posthumous tribute was given to the distinguished writer and humanist Marcio Veloz Maggiolo, highlighting his literary and cultural legacy, considered an indispensable reference for several generations. The Senate highlighted that this recognition is part of its commitment to the promotion of the values, art, and effort that have contributed to the development of Dominican society.
