Santo Domingo. – According to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), this Thursday we will see an atmospheric environment with little rain throughout the national territory. This is the meteorological panorama that will reign during the morning hours, as a result of a significant decrease in humidity content and the arrival of Saharan dust particles that will be limiting cloud formations and significant rainfall accumulations, without ruling out isolated and passing showers towards the Caribbean coast.
In the afternoon until the early hours of the night, the combination of local effects (daytime heating and orographic) with the warm southeast wind and the incidence of a weak trough in the upper levels of the troposphere, will generate some cloud developments with local showers, isolated thunderstorms and wind gusts, especially in towns in the provinces: Monte Plata, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Vega, Monseñor Noel, San Juan, Elías, Piña, Santiago Rodríguez and Dajabón, among other nearby ones.
On Friday, an increase in humidity and instability is expected, resulting from the arrival of a tropical wave and the influence of the upper-level trough. Both will be generating, especially in the afternoon, an increase in rainfall accompanied by electrical storms and wind gusts, mainly over the regions: northeast, northwest, Cordillera Central and border area, such as: Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, San José de Ocoa, Azua, San Juan, Elías Piña, Dajabón and Santiago Rodríguez.
Cyclonic activity in the Atlantic basin, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico:
It is forecast that a tropical wave will emerge on the west coast of Africa. Environmental conditions could support some slow development with a very low probability of reaching tropical cyclone category in the next 48 hours and 30% in 7 days. Due to its geographical position, its possible evolution and development are being monitored.

The temperature will remain very high, due to the time of year (summer) and the warm and humid east/southeast wind. It is important that the population continues to hydrate sufficiently with liquids, (preferably water), wear light-colored clothing, seek cool and ventilated places, avoid periods of greatest sun exposure without proper sun protection during the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. In addition, it should be taken into account that children and the elderly are more susceptible to suffering the effects of these high temperatures.
