Santo Domingo. – The United States Embassy in the Dominican Republic informed that it will remain closed this Friday due to the persistent risk posed by Tropical Storm Melissa, which continues to affect a large part of the national territory with heavy rains and wind gusts.

It was also specified that the routine services and assistance for American citizens in the consular agencies of Puerto Plata and Punta Cana will continue to operate normally, according to the evolution and trajectory of the atmospheric phenomenon. People with scheduled appointments will receive an email with instructions to reschedule their service once operations resume. On the other hand, the Visa Application Center (VAC), located in the Sambil shopping center, will also close its doors this Friday, in line with the preventive measures adopted by the authorities in the face of Melissa’s passage. The Embassy urged citizens to stay informed through its official channels and follow the recommendations of the Emergency Operations Center (COE) and the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet).
