Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Iran will not allow navigation through the Strait of Hormuz until the United States accepts conditions set by Tehran. Ghalibaf said Iran’s demands had been clearly communicated to Washington through mediators and that the strait would not reopen until the conditions were met.
Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei said Tehran had presented seven conditions for beginning negotiations with the United States. Among them are an end to the war on all fronts, the release of frozen Iranian assets, an end to the naval blockade and a commitment to refrain from interference in Iran’s internal affairs and further aggression. According to Iranian officials, the conditions were delivered through Qatar, while contacts with Qatari and Pakistani mediators continue.
