The Minister of Public Administration, Sigmund Freud, defended the Government’s plan to implement the new work schedules for public sector employees, in order to reduce traffic congestion in Greater Santo Domingo within the framework of the “RD se Mueve” plan. The official explained that the plan, which began last Tuesday, is already being implemented by 70 institutions, and they are coordinating with another 30, impacting the mobility of more than 20,000 public sector employees. “The resolution was issued more than 10 days ago and in those days we have been working with each of the institutions, the thing is that we have to understand that there are many institutions that have complex natures, the number of employees they have, being able to coordinate and schedule the schedules with different realities is not an easy task,” Freud indicated. Passports, Migration, Customs, Internal Taxes and Intrant itself, are among the government institutions that will have a new schedule, within the framework of the plan that seeks to decongest traffic in Greater Santo Domingo. These institutions are in the group of entities that receive more than 2,000 visits per month, in citizen service, so they must establish two shifts, the first starting at 7:00 in the morning, ending at 2:00 in the afternoon; while the second would start at 2:00 pm and extend until 9:00 at night. This, according to the “RD Moves” strategy and the plan to decongest the streets presented by the National Institute of Transit and Terrestrial Transportation (Intrant), the Ministry of Public Administration (MAP) issued Circular 008962, which formalizes the staggering of work schedules in the public sector.
Through the official document signed by the Minister of Public Administration, Sigmund Freund, starting Tuesday, July 1, 2025, public institutions with a presence in Greater Santo Domingo must divide 70% of their staff into the schedules of 7:00 am – 3:00 pm and 7:30 am – 3:30 pm; while 30% may remain in their usual schedule, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
