O’Hara is remembered for having played Kate McCallister, Kevin’s mother, played by Macaulay Culkin, in the nineties Christmas comedy ‘Home Alone’, but her career began on television with the comedy series ‘SCTV Network’. Her participation in that series earned her her first Emmy. The second one she would win in 2020 thanks to her participation in the series ‘Schitt’s Creek’, where she played the eccentric and dramatic matriarch of the Rose family, Moira Rose. Born in Toronto in 1954, O’Hara was known for her improvisational skills for comedy. Los Angeles (USA), – Catherine O’Hara, the veteran actress who starred in ‘Home Alone’, ‘Beetlejuice’ and ‘Best in Show’, has passed away at the age of 71, as confirmed this Friday by the representative of the Canadian star to the specialized media Variety.
According to the same publication, the actress died after a brief, unspecified illness, at her home in Los Angeles (California, USA).
