Marvel Studios has officially confirmed David Jonsson as the new Black Panther, with the British actor set to portray Prince T’Challa II, also known as Toussaint, the grown-up son of T’Challa and Nakia, in Black Panther III. The announcement was made during Marvel’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, where director Ryan Coogler appeared alongside Jonsson, Letitia Wright, and Winston Duke. The film is scheduled to premiere in theaters on December 15, 2028.
Toussaint was first introduced as a child in the post-credits scene of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. According to Coogler, the third installment will follow the character as he comes of age and prepares for the responsibilities of Wakanda’s throne.
Jonsson, known for his performances in Industry and Alien: Romulus, thanked Marvel Studios and Coogler after taking the stage, calling the opportunity “an honor.” The casting marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Black Panther franchise following the death of Chadwick Boseman in 2020.
