Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Wednesday after being found guilty of sexually assaulting Miriam Haley, a former production assistant on “Project Runway,” according to NBC News.
Weinstein, who has maintained his innocence, appeared in a Lower Manhattan courtroom in a wheelchair and with his hands cuffed. Haley delivered a statement accusing him of abusing his position and power and said the assault had a devastating effect on her life.
During the hearing, Weinstein again denied the allegations and apologized to anyone he may have hurt through his actions. He described himself as an imperfect person who had made mistakes and denied being a violent man.
