A final adventure in the Upside Down, that world full of mysteries, monsters, and friends who don’t lie that Netflix presented nine years ago, is about to begin. This Wednesday, November 26th, fans of Stranger Things will begin to say goodbye to the endearing story with the premiere of the first four episodes of the fifth season. While it is expected to be an epic and grand finale, they already have an invaluable advantage: the support of the public. Hours before the long-awaited launch, the series created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer broke an impressive record that supports it, in the best way, to start with the farewell. Stranger Things arrived on Netflix on July 15, 2016 as a story set in Hawkins, a fictional town in the American state of Indiana, during the 80s, full of suspense, mysterious disappearances, deaths, powers, monsters and unconditional friendships. While it was a success, probably not everyone expected it to become a global phenomenon. The second season premiered in 2017, the third in 2019 and the fourth in 2022.

Now, three and a half years later, the fifth and final installment arrives. One of the things that fans questioned the most was the time it took for the production to come to an end. In between, there were entire series that started and finished, and even, due to the large offer, it was difficult for several to retain in their minds everything that happened in the last episode of Stranger Things that premiered in 2022. But this “delayed ending” ended up being, in a way, a triumph for the project. The reason? It became the first Netflix series to simultaneously have four seasons in the Global Top 10, as reported by Deadline. The Tudum site shared the list of the 10 most-watched English-language series on the platform globally for the week of November 17-23. What caught the attention was that in third place was the first season of Stranger Things with 4.1 million views and in fifth place the fourth season with 3.3 million views. The seventh place in the ranking was occupied by the second season, with 3.1 million views, and the ninth by the third season, with the same number of views but with fewer hours of playback. These numbers could be due to different factors. On the one hand, the group of subscribers who decided to rewatch the series to refresh the events for the final season and on the other hand the new fans who learned about the story during the last three and a half years and decided to get into it to be part of the epic ending. Just before the premiere of the fifth season of Stranger Things, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Duffer brothers revealed which four episodes fans should rewatch before the final part. From the second season, they suggested watching episodes four and six titled Will the Wise and The Spy, and from the fourth season, episodes seven and nine titled The Massacre at Hawkins Lab – a key moment in the series – and The Piggyback, sometimes translated as The Plan. This fifth season of the production will feature eight episodes that will last between one and three hours and will be released in three parts. The first four chapters corresponding to “Volume 1” arrive on Netflix this Wednesday, November 26. The next three of “Volume 2” will be released on Thursday, December 25 and the grand “Final” will be on Wednesday, December 31. In Argentina, they can be seen on the mentioned days from 10 p.m.
