Madrid.- The song ‘Rosas’ by La Oreja de Van Gogh has become the first song by a Spanish group to surpass one billion streams on Spotify, according to its record label this Thursday. The merit is greater if you consider that the song was released in 2003 as part of the album ‘Lo que te conté mientras te hacías la dormida’, with another generation as an audience and long before listening to music on ‘streaming’ platforms became a habit. At the time, the album reached diamond and six-platinum status in Spain (over 600,000 copies sold), with equally high sales figures in countries such as Mexico or the United States, where it reached double platinum thanks to the Hispanic community. ‘Roses’, turned into a symbol, was also the song that Amaia Montero, the new vocalist of La Oreja de Van Gogh, sang in 2024 in her public reappearance with the Colombian Karol G before very young attendees who sang along with her in one of her media-covered four concerts at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid.
