The 2026 FIFA World Cup final featured the tournament’s first-ever halftime show, transforming the traditional break into a Super Bowl-style entertainment spectacle at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, the nearly 30-minute production featured performances by Shakira, who sang the tournament’s official anthem, “Dai Dai,” alongside global music stars Madonna, BTS and Justin Bieber. Bieber also performed a special version of his song “Everything Hallelujah,” incorporating the lyric, “It’s the World Cup, hallelujah.”
The show also included Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, who performed with the New York Philharmonic and Venezuela’s Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra, adding a classical music element to the historic event.
To accommodate the large-scale production, FIFA extended halftime to nearly 30 minutes, allowing time to assemble and dismantle the stage before play resumed.
FIFA said the halftime show was part of its partnership with Global Citizen to raise funds for education initiatives worldwide, while also reflecting its vision of expanding football’s biggest event into a global entertainment experience.
