The rock world begins to say goodbye to Ozzy Osbourne

London. – Personalities from the rock world began to bid farewell this Tuesday to Ozzy Osbourne, the singer of the British ‘heavy metal’ group Black Sabbath, who died today at the age of 76 “surrounded by love”, according to his family in a statement.

Black Sabbath, of which he was the founder and leader since 1968, shared an image of the musician on their Instagram social media account along with the message “Ozzy forever”.

Ronnie Wood, guitarist of the Rolling Stones, said goodbye on the same social network, when he referred to his last performance on July 5th: “I am very sad about the news of Ozzy Osbourne’s death, he had a wonderful farewell concert in Birmingham.” Queen guitarist Brian May said that function, in which numerous stars paid tribute to him, was “a glorious way to say goodbye”. “I am grateful to have been able to speak with him privately after the show. I am glad to know that he passed away in peace, surrounded by his beloved family,” she stated.

Among the bands that performed at that concert, titled Back to the Beginning, was Metallica, who celebrated their friend with an image of the group members alongside Osbourne, accompanied by a broken heart.

“Goodbye Ozzy, rest my friend, I’ll see you up there, better late than soon,” said goodbye, with a wink, also Rod Stewart on his social media. Tom Morello, former member of Rage Against the Machine, joined the final farewells to the leader of Black Sabbath, with a brief message: “God bless you Ozzy”. For their part, Chad Smith, drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Travis Barker, from Blink-182, shared images with the English musician on their Instagram stories. “RIP Ozzy Osbourne. Thank you for everything you did for metal and Pantera. We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you,” said that group on their social media account, where they also extended their condolences to the British singer’s family. Born as John Michael Osbourne on December 3, 1948, in Aston, Birmingham, he left school at 15 and did sporadic jobs before joining his school friend, Geezer Butler, in several bands. As the leader of Black Sabbath and later as a solo artist, Osbourne was at the forefront of the ‘heavy metal’ scene, a deeper and darker branch of hard rock, of which he is considered a pioneer.
