Puerto Rico. Bad Bunny turned the first concert of his tour’s closing run in Puerto Rico into more than a musical celebration, using the stage to speak about the challenges facing the island and defend the role of Puerto Ricans in shaping its future.
During his performance at Hiram Bithorn Stadium, in front of more than 60,000 fans, Benito Antonio Ocasio Martínez paused the show to address what he described as efforts to push Puerto Ricans away from their own territory.
“This chaos, this disaster, is created on purpose to try to make us give up, to make us stay quiet. To make us leave,” the artist said.
Bad Bunny also warned about what he described as a process of “selling the island piece by piece”, eventually creating, in his words, “a Puerto Rico without Puerto Ricans.”
The singer insisted that the island’s future is in the hands of its own people and urged Puerto Ricans to defend their homeland.

“You are the ones who will save this people. We are the ones who will save them, and I include myself,” he declared.
His comments come amid ongoing concerns over water supplies and drought conditions in Puerto Rico. According to the information provided, 33.31% of the island’s territory is affected by drought.
Against that backdrop, Puerto Rico Governor Jenniffer González signed two executive orders on July 31 declaring a state of emergency related to water use.

The concert therefore became both a major musical event and a platform for Bad Bunny to deliver a message about Puerto Rico, its current challenges and the responsibility he believes its people have to protect the island.
