Brazilian government authorizes the start of consultations to respond to Trump’s tariffs

São Paulo.- The Brazilian government authorized this Thursday the start of consultations by the Foreign Trade Chamber to see if it is possible to apply the Reciprocity Law against the additional 50% tariffs imposed by Donald Trump on a large part of Brazilian imports, as confirmed to EFE by diplomatic sources. The Brazilian Foreign Trade Chamber was notified this Thursday and has up to 30 days to conduct an analysis and determine whether the measures taken by the US Government fit within this law, regulated in July, which determines the economic protection procedures that the country has to adopt to respond to unilateral measures or barriers imposed by trading partners that restrict Brazilian exports.

The United States Government will be notified by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs this Friday.
