Rio de Janeiro.- The Brazilian Foreign Ministry stated this Wednesday in a social media post that “traitors to the homeland will not be able to rewrite history,” in reference to the intention of the opposition presidential candidate, Flávio Bolsonaro, to attend a hearing in the U.S. to supposedly defend Brazil’s interests.
n” “nThe Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not expressly mention in its unusual publication the name of the opposition senator, the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, but it makes it clear that it is a response to the senator’s announcement that he will try to defend Brazil’s interests before the US since the foreign ministry supposedly does not do so.
n” “n«Traitors to the homeland will not succeed in rewriting history. Brazil knows that the additional tariffs (imposed by the United States on Brazilian products) have their origin in an attempt at external interference in the Brazilian justice system», stated the Foreign Ministry on its social media.
n” “nOn Tuesday, also on social media, Flávio Bolsonaro stated that he requested authorization to participate in a public hearing before the U.S. Government in which the 25% additional tariff with which the Donald Trump administration threatens to sanction Brazilian exports for alleged unfair trade practices will be discussed.
