California governor calls Trump’s speech against green energy “abominable”

Los Ángeles.- California Governor, Democrat Gavin Newsom, called US President Donald Trump’s comments at the United Nations General Assembly an “abomination” this Wednesday, where he called climate change a “scam” and stated that green energy was a “fraud.” Newsom called Trump’s statement that the scientific consensus on global warming was created by “stupid people” “shameful.”

The governor attacked the president at the Climate Forward event convened by The New York Times, as part of Climate Week NYC, a side event to the Assembly that the Democrat attends to reinforce California’s commitment to the fight against climate change, in contrast to the measures taken by the US Executive. “This ‘climate change’ is, in my opinion, the greatest scam ever perpetrated against the world,” Trump said this Tuesday at the Assembly. The leader assured that the fight against climate change has “cost fortunes” to countries, and anticipated that governments will fail if they continue investing in those programs. A message completely opposite to the one Newsom has brought to New York: “California is a stable and reliable partner in the climate crisis and the protection of our environment,” highlighted the Democratic governor.
