The U.S. Coast Guard announced that search teams found debris linked to a medical aircraft that disappeared Saturday off the East Coast of the United States while traveling from Bermuda to Boston.
The Coast Guard said it was notified by the Federal Aviation Administration that contact had been lost with the Gulfstream G100 earlier Saturday. The aircraft was carrying six people.
The plane was operated by Canada-based Latitude Air Ambulance and disappeared at around 1:30 a.m. local time. Two pilots, two medical crew members, a patient and a family member were on board, according to the company.
Search operations were expected to continue overnight as authorities worked to determine what happened to the aircraft and its occupants. The Coast Guard said it would hold a news conference Sunday morning.
