Brussels. – The European Parliament rejected this Wednesday the request of Swedish legislator Charlie Weimers to observe a minute of silence in memory of the American activist Charlie Kirk, recently murdered during a university event. The request was interrupted by German MEP Katarina Barley, who recalled that the presidency had dismissed the proposal. Amid protests from the right and applause from the left, the tribute did not take place. Kirk, 31, co-founded the conservative organization Turning Point USA in 2012 and stood out as a critic of mass immigration, the LGBT movement, and the progressive agenda. He died after being shot in the neck.
