Mexican military authorities held a welcome ceremony for 114 members of the Haitian Army who arrived in Mexico as part of a bilateral military cooperation initiative.
The ceremony was presided over by Major General Marco Antonio Álvarez Reyes, commander of Mexico’s First Military Region. Of the 114 Haitian military personnel, 108 will complete their first phase of training at the Individual Combat Training Center at Military Camp No. 37-C in San Miguel de los Jagüeyes, State of Mexico.
The event included military honors to the flags of Mexico and Haiti, as well as the national anthems of both countries.
According to the Mexican military, the initiative is intended to strengthen bilateral military cooperation while reinforcing discipline, patriotism, respect for national symbols and the training of military personnel committed to their country.
