A drone destroyed a dwelling in the Delmas 6 sector, in the center of Port-au-Prince, during an operation by the Haitian National Police, with the support of the Gang Suppression Force, directed against Jimmy Cherizier, alias “Barbecue”, head of the criminal coalition Viv Ansanm. According to an official statement, the intervention aims to “dismantle the terrorist bandits occupying this neighborhood, in order to restore peace.” The action took place in the area where Cherizier allegedly resides, in one of the most disputed areas of the Haitian capital.

Authorities indicated that the offensive is part of a broader operation against armed gangs operating in the center of Port-au-Prince. In recent days, law enforcement forces have managed to enter sectors that for years remained under the control of criminal groups. According to reports from the Haitian newspaper Le Nouvelliste, last Thursday, January 8, 2026, the Haitian National Police managed to penetrate the La Saline neighborhood, considered one of the historical strongholds of gangs in the capital. So far, no arrests or victims have been reported, nor has the whereabouts of Cherizier been confirmed following the operation in Delmas 6.
