Israeli forces carried out an operation Thursday in the vicinity of Syria’s capital, Damascus, and in the southern province of Quneitra.
The bombing of the strategic Bat al-Warda hill, near Beit Jinn, comes amid repeated Israeli attacks on the area in recent months.
The attacks came days after Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani met with Israeli intelligence officials in Jordan for U.S.-mediated talks. Damascus described the meeting as an attempt to put an end to Israel’s ongoing “attacks, arrests and targeted operations” inside Syria.
Israel has carried out hundreds of attacks on Syria since the overthrow of longtime ruler Bashar al-Assad in December 2024. It has also deployed troops to a United Nations-patrolled buffer zone that had separated Israeli and Syrian forces in
