A 39-year-old man on trial for the murder of his wife collapsed and died in a courtroom on Friday, moments before receiving his sentence at the Houston Criminal Justice Center in the U.S. state of Texas.
During the trial, James Paul Anderson, also known as ‘Mister Jazzz’, suffered a medical emergency, allegedly after ingesting a narcotic compound, and received a naloxone injection at the scene, a fast-acting medication to reverse opioid overdose, which was administered by a marshal. However, the measure did not work and, between vomiting, the man was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead shortly after, according to reported the New York Post newspaper.

Anderson’s lawyer, whom he had consulted a few minutes earlier, found
a brown bag in a nearby trash can containing a crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine.
An autopsy is being performed to determine the cause of death. Meanwhile,
the judge ordered the closure of the room after what happened and declared it a possible crime scene.
The deceased worked in special education in the city of Cleveland and also as a clown for some time, before the Police arrested him on September 24, 2023, at his home. The officers had been
alerted by a 911 call from the ex-clown’s wife, Victoria Anderson, who felt threatened with death. The woman was probably already dead when the officers arrived and the man, who was armed, confronted them for several hours before surrendering.
