Former First Lady Michelle Obama has revealed that she avoids using Apple Pay and limits the use of smartphone applications because of concerns about being tracked. During a conversation with actress and comedian Amy Poehler, Obama said she prefers not to rely on her phone for everyday transactions, even admitting that she sometimes forgets how to use her physical credit card.
When Poehler suggested that Apple Pay makes purchases easier, Obama responded that she chooses not to use the service. “I’m trying not to do things on my phone,” she said. Poehler jokingly replied that the approach sounded “a little boomer,” prompting Obama to laugh and explain the reason behind her decision: “I know, but I don’t want to be tracked.”
