Caracas.- A total of 10,702 people are being housed in 79 temporary camps that were set up following the earthquakes on June 24 in Venezuela, reported Minister of Education Héctor Rodríguez this Sunday on his Telegram channel.
The report, as of 6:00 local time (10:00 GMT) on this July 5th, details that the emergency infrastructure has an installed capacity of 14,599 places, which leaves a margin of availability to continue assisting the affected population.

The state most devastated by the earthquakes, La Guaira, records the highest concentration of citizens under shelter, with 6,655 people distributed across 20 camps. Of these centers, the Government stated that 11 are in the “process of expansion”.
For its part, in Caracas, the country’s capital, 37 temporary camps have been activated with a total capacity of 8,078 places, of which 3,234 are occupied by those affected.
In the state of Miranda (north, near Caracas), 22 camps remain operational with an installed capacity for 1,787 places, currently housing 813 people.
“Thanks to the joint effort between the national government, international organizations, private sectors, and the community, we are conditioning every facility to guarantee dignified spaces for families,” emphasized the Minister of Education.
11 days after the double earthquake that shook Venezuela, efforts are focused this Sunday on clearing debris from collapsed buildings in La Guaira, while search and rescue operations diminish as the days pass.
So far, at least 2,954 people have died and 16,592 have been injured, according to the latest Government report, which still has not updated the number of missing persons, which has remained at 157 since last June 25.
