Ecuador.- An Ecuadorian court sentenced a teacher to seventeen years and four months in prison for sexually abusing three children aged 5 and 6, the Prosecutor’s Office reported on Tuesday. On March 24th, the parents of the children at a school in the town of Sangolquí, in the province of Pichincha, reported that their children had been sexually abused by the teacher of the Neuromotor (physical activity) subject, “while ‘checking’ that they were wearing their sports uniform shorts,” detailed the Public Ministry in a statement. Following the complaint, the Prosecutor’s Office received the testimonies of the victims, who “clearly identified their aggressor”, Professor Steveen Joel P., who was immediately arrested by the Police.

Steveen Joel P. is facing twelve other complaints of sexual abuse of children between 5 and 7 years old, according to data from the Prosecutor’s Office. Investigations in these cases are ongoing.
