A 31-year-old mother, Kenya Glasgow, and her 2-year-old daughter, Kennedi, died after being struck by lightning during a storm in Margate, Florida, on Sunday, August 23.
Emergency crews found both victims lying on a sidewalk near Northwest First Street and immediately began CPR. They were taken to separate medical centers, where they were later pronounced dead.
A local resident described hearing what he called “the strongest lightning” he had ever heard, followed by a bright orange flash.
The tragedy has left the family and community mourning the loss of the mother and her young daughter.
