Applications open for Queens housing from US$869 per month in New York

Families residing in New York City, including the Dominican community, have a new opportunity to access rent-regulated housing in Queens through a municipal program that has applications open for eight apartments with prices starting at US$869 per month.
The call is part of NYC Housing Connect, the city’s system that allows individuals and families to apply for affordable housing, provided they meet the economic and family composition requirements established for each property.
The apartments are located in the 42-78 65 Place Apartments building, in the Woodside neighborhood, an area of Queens where communities of different nationalities reside, including the Dominican community.
According to the official program information, rents range from US$869 to US$3,000 per month, depending on the number of bedrooms and the applicants’ income level.
Queens housing requirements
The program includes five one-bedroom apartments and three two-bedroom apartments, intended for households of between one and five people, depending on the unit type.
To access the most affordable housing, with a monthly rent of US$869, interested parties must demonstrate annual household income between US$38,435 and US$61,080, depending on the number of household members.
One-bedroom apartments are also offered for US$1,399 per month, aimed at applicants with annual incomes between US$56,606 and US$91,620.
In the case of two-bedroom units, there are options starting at US$1,611 per month, intended for households with annual incomes between US$68,812 and US$109,920.

The call for applications includes other housing units with rents of US$2,882 and US$3,000 per month, for families that meet the income limits established for those categories.
Queens housing applications
Individuals interested in participating in the Queens housing program must submit their application no later than November 2, 2026, through the official NYC Housing Connect platform.
To complete the process, applicants must create an account, provide information about their income, and specify how many people would reside in the apartment.
The authorities state that participation is completely free and that no payment is required to submit the application.

Likewise, the program includes certain preferences for residents of the corresponding community district, municipal employees, and military veterans, in addition to units reserved for people with disabilities.
Queens housing services
The apartments feature air conditioning, dishwashers, washers and dryers inside the units, as well as energy-efficient appliances.
The building also features an elevator, security cameras, adapted access for people with reduced mobility, and outdoor spaces.
Interested parties should note that meeting the financial requirements does not guarantee the allocation of an apartment, as beneficiaries are selected through a lottery and must subsequently pass a document verification process.
Applications for Queens housing can be made through the official NYC Housing Connect portal, where the specific conditions of the call are also available.
