New Jersey.- Alex Méndez, a Dominican councilman in the city of Paterson, announced that he will run again for mayor of that district in the municipal elections of May 2023.
Méndez is a well-known figure in Paterson where Dominicans are numerous; he cleanly won the fourth municipal district position from African American councilman William McKoy, but the latter alleged fraud fueled by Sayegh.
“We beat Councilman McKoy twice at the polls, in May and November, and we gave him two beatings in court. After a year and a half, we emerged victorious,” added Méndez.

“The political persecution is maintained by Mayor Sayegh, who is terribly afraid that I will be the mayoral candidate in 2023,” he added.

“We are going to fight, the Latino community in Paterson is the majority and it cannot be that a minority is governing the majority. We have the largest number of businesses, real estate investments and we do not have fair and dignified representation that fights for our community,” added the councilman.
