NEW YORK.- A 41-year-old man was charged with murder for the killing of Lovay Williams in Washington Heights, a 27-year-old mother found dead last September 6 inside her home, reported the New York Police Department (NYPD).
The defendant was identified as Tiliek Shamel Thompson, who had initially been considered a person of interest in the investigation. Subsequently, he was taken into custody and formally charged in connection with the young woman’s death.
Homicide in Washington Heights
The homicide in Washington Heights occurred in an apartment located at 535 West 156th Street, near Amsterdam Avenue. Officers arrived at the scene around 1:30 in the afternoon on September 6th to conduct a wellness check.
Upon entering the residence, police officers found Williams unresponsive with visible injuries to the face and neck. Emergency medical personnel certified his death at the scene.
The victim’s seven-year-old daughter was in the apartment. Reports on the case indicate that the minor was present during the attack that ended her mother’s life.
Washington Heights Case
Thompson turned himself in at the 33rd Precinct before authorities announced his arrest. Following the progress of the investigation into the case in Washington Heights, the man was charged with murder for the death of Williams.
