NYPD seeks Dominican man wanted in connection with his mother’s death in the Bronx

The New York Police Department (NYPD) released a photograph of 33-year-old Dominican national Bob Johnny Guzmán Soto and is asking for the public’s help locating him in connection with the death of his mother, 57-year-old Josefa Soto De Carmen, also Dominican.

The photo released by police shows Guzmán Soto walking through the lobby of an apartment building while pulling a small suitcase.

According to police, officers found Soto De Carmen dead inside her home in the Bronx, near Grand Concourse and E. 168th Street, at around 3:25 p.m. Friday.

The woman had suffered trauma to her head and torso, and her death was later classified as a homicide.

So far, no charges have been filed against Guzmán Soto in connection with his mother’s death.

Neighbors described the family as troubled, although they said Guzmán Soto was quiet and reserved. They also said he regularly attended local church groups and Bible studies.

Police are asking anyone with information about Guzmán Soto’s whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
