An overloaded truck nearly caused a bridge over the Lohit River in India’s Arunachal Pradesh state to collapse, forcing drivers to unload part of the cargo at the site.
The bridge had already been weakened by repeated crossings of vehicles exceeding its weight capacity. As authorities assess the damage and consider repairs, traffic restrictions have been imposed on the structure.
The bridge is the only access route to several nearby villages, leaving communities partially cut off while authorities evaluate the condition of the infrastructure and determine the necessary repairs.
