Authorities in Pennsylvania have charged 14 people, including 13 current or former Penn State students, in connection with an alleged cocaine trafficking network operating from two fraternity houses.
According to prosecutors, the organization operated during 2023 and 2024, obtaining large quantities of cocaine through contacts in Philadelphia and New York. Investigators allege that fraternity members and pledges were forced to cut and package the drugs at the Sigma Chi and Delta Upsilon houses before they were distributed to Penn State students.
Agostino Abbatiello, 24, identified by authorities as an alleged leader of the operation, surrendered Tuesday after failing to appear at a scheduled court hearing. He faces charges including possession with intent to distribute and conspiracy and was jailed without bail. Four people face felony charges related to the alleged trafficking operation, while eight others face lesser drug-possession charges.
Penn State said Delta Upsilon was temporarily suspended. The university also said Sigma Chi is not a university-recognized organization and is not under its supervision. Both fraternity organizations said members accused of involvement had been suspended or expelled while the legal proceedings continue.
