Washington.- Protests against immigration raids initiated in Los Angeles (California) have spread to other major cities in the United States, prompting Republican authorities in Texas, allies of the Donald Trump administration, to deploy the National Guard to contain them.
Los Ángeles lived last night its first curfew since the beginning of the demonstrations, in an attempt by local authorities to stop the riots.
Meanwhile, the protests moved to New York, where clashes with the police were recorded near the headquarters of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the agency in charge of the raids.
Incidents were also reported in Chicago and minor protests in other cities such as Denver, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington.
The White House says protests will not succeed
For its part, the White House warned that protests against immigration raids “will not succeed” and order will prevail instead.
“Let this be an unequivocal message to left-wing radicals in other parts of the country who are thinking of imitating the violence to stop this Administration’s mass deportation efforts: they will not succeed,” said presidential spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt at a press conference.
Trump, according to Leavitt, “received a clear mandate from voters to reverse the illegal invasion initiated by the open border of (former President) Joe Biden and put an end to the anarchy” embodied by Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom.

«He vowed to carry out the largest mass deportation campaign in the history of the United States and the riots from the left will not stop him in that effort. Sanctuary cities and states will no longer be able to protect illegal criminals from deportation», he added.
The Texas Governor Deploys the National Guard
Republican Greg Abbott ordered the deployment of the National Guard in several cities in the state in response to protests called this week against US immigration policy, emulating what happened in Los Angeles (California).
“Peaceful protest is legal, harming a person or property is illegal and will lead to arrest,” Abbott wrote on his X platform account on Tuesday night.
The announcement makes Texas the second state in the country, after California, where National Guard troops have been deployed to respond to protests against the Donald Trump administration’s campaign of raids and deportations.
This Wednesday, a protest is called in San Antonio, a Texan city with a Latino majority, for which local authorities are preparing, as alerted by the Police Chief, William McManus.
New protests are expected for Saturday
On Saturday, protests are also expected again in San Antonio, as well as in Houston, Dallas and Austin, the main cities in the state, as part of a national call in opposition to Trump.
The so-called ‘Day Without Kings’ by the progressive groups that convene it will coincide with the military parade that Trump will hold in Washington to mark the 250th anniversary of the armed forces and which also coincides with his 79th birthday.
