Several dead as a bus catches fire in Switzerland, according to police

Geneva.– Several people were killed and others injured when a bus known in Switzerland as “postales” caught fire in the town of Chiètres, in the Swiss canton of Fribourg, as confirmed by the regional police to the local news agency ATS. Beyond this confirmation, the authorities have not given the exact number of victims nor have they commented on the causes of the fire.

They only added that one of the injured has been transported by helicopter to receive medical attention, while the scene of the accident has been cordoned off and residents have been asked not to approach. Swiss Postbuses are an iconic public transport service in this country, connecting rural and mountain locations and which were initially created to deliver mail, hence their name.
