Joaquín Guzmán López, alias ‘el Güero’, one of the sons of the capo Joaquín ‘el Chapo’ Guzmán, will plead guilty to at least one charge related to drug trafficking on December 1st before a U.S. court, Mexican media reported this Friday. This is the District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, in the city of Chicago, where his brother, Ovidio Guzmán López, pleaded guilty to four charges related to drug trafficking last July. Everything indicates that Joaquín followed the same negotiating path. ‘El Güero’ reached an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office that, according to reports, will allow him to avoid a sentence of greater magnitude, such as the life sentence faced by his father. It is believed that Guzmán López was behind the capture of Ismael Zambada García, ‘el Mayo’, carried out in July 2024.
